Things are set to get cleaner in Cities: Skylines II!
Iceflake Studios, which took over development of the game earlier this year, and publisher Paradox Interactive are rolling out a new update that will improve modding, facilitate sharing, and streamline the in-game download process.
The Paradox Mods platform has received a whole overhaul, making it even more user-friendly!
First off, you’ll be able to swap playsets with other players, as well as download their shared playsets. This gives you a game that is complete with your mods or theirs, meaning that starting games with conditions and mods set by you or others is as easy as sharing or being shared.
Playsets that you take from other players now operate as a snapshot in time, meaning that playsets will act exactly the way others have shared them, even if there have been updates or two for certain mods included as part of the set. Mods will function as they did at the time of the snapshot until you choose to update them.
Paradox Mods UI is now faster because actions and mod downloads have been split. You can partake in actions right away now, without having to wait for a corresponding mod to download.
Finally, parallel downloads will allow for up to three mods to be downloaded at once. This should fix the issues players have been having with mods needing to be re-downloaded each time the game is opened, or at least speed up the process.
The Paradox Mods platform website has also received some spring cleaning to make it easier to find mods and conflicts.
