After several key figures within the Ubisoft hierarchy were ousted over the weekend, it is clear that change is happening from top to bottom.
We’ve been quiet on the situation so voices from those affected could be heard and things are finally at a point I feel comfortable speaking out in support of those people. On Saturday, Serge Hascoet, Cecile Cornet, and Ubisoft Canada head Yannis Mallat “resigned,” leaving leadership positions available.
Christophe Derennes has been announced to take over for Yannis Mallat at Ubisoft Montreal, serving as the director of the studio. Ubisoft has yet to officially announce this move, Jeux.ca obtained an email Ubisoft sent to staff on Monday.
NEW – I am hearing that Christophe Derennes will be the new head of Ubisoft Montreal. He was previously executive vice president of production at the studio.

Derennes’ already looking to make changes at the studio with a great focus on implementing diversity across the studio at all levels and to deliver “parity within the management team.”
Ubisoft spoke about the situation before Sunday’s Ubisoft Forward but was criticized for not including a video response to the allegations, only offering a press release.
