The latest Call of Duty Warzone event has come with new objectives and story-based gameplay, but a look at the first reveal trailer for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
First up, let’s take a peek at what you can do right now in Warzone in the new Shadow Siege Operation: Rogue Arsenal event:
“At the beginning of the Shadow Siege event, up to 32 Operators will receive a briefing from Commander Phillip Graves… NOTE: Due to the severity of this mission, we recommended squading up in Quads. Be sure to bring three allies to the fight with you or use Squad Fill to complete your Quad.”
The event will be broken down into several stages including: Phase I: Secure One of Eight Missile Launchers, Phase II: Collect Gas Canisters, and Phase III: Exfil.
You can get a full breakdown on the Call of Duty blog. Operation: Rogue Arsenal is replayable until its planned end date from the Warzone playlist rotation on August 21 at 10:30 A.M. PT. Several rewards are also available, detailed in the graphic below.
The “Dark New Chapter”
Now on to the new title, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. “Get ready for an all-new Campaign that continues the story immediately following the events of Modern Warfare II.”
Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward showed some campaign footage in the trailer below, with fantastic action underwater and above sea level. While multiplayer is typically what many gamers come to for replayability in the franchise, it’s always amazing to see what the teams do in these often heart-pounding stories.
The developers also emphasize more opportunities and choices in the campaign: “In addition to the signature, cinematic Call of Duty missions, Modern Warfare 3 introduces Open Combat Missions, with even greater emphasis on player choice.”
Multiplayer Features
For multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3 has taken some notes from longtime fans of the franchise by bringing in “all 16 launch maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)… modernized with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.”
Zombies are also making a comeback and will be bigger than ever. You can now team up not only with a few friends but other squads as well. This means bigger, more involved maps and scenarios to tackle and what they’re calling a “open world.” It “tells a new Zombies story from developer Treyarch, with missions, core Zombies features, and a host of secrets to discover.”
For those worried about their progression from Modern Warfare II, the team promises that “a vast amount of content and weapon progression from Modern Warfare II will come with you to Modern Warfare 3.” This will include weapons and universal attachments. A previous blog post Q&A was posted earlier this month, digging into the finer details of carry-over progression and unlocks.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s preorders, are now available, with the full game releasing later this year on November 10th.
