During today’s Meta Quest Showcase, Bulletstorm VR was announced and is releasing for SteamVR, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro and PSVR2 headsets sometime in 2023. The VR title is actually being published by the original Bulletstorm developer, People Can Fly with developer, Incuvo – which specializes in VR gaming –handling the development of the VR version of the 2011 game.
“As a studio that specializes in VR gaming, Bulletstorm VR is a dream project for us. Gunplay is a natural fit for VR and Bulletstorm has that in spades, yet it also has a cool-as-hell electric leash, which is just a joy to use with motion controls in VR. Add in endearing characters and an extravagant, colourful world, and Bulletstorm VR is the full package,” Incuvo CEO Andrzej Wychowaniec said in a press release.
People Can Fly creative director Bartosz Kmita adds that fans of the original can expect “Bulletstorm VR [to] retain everything players loved about the original Bulletstorm—the world, the characters, and the clever Skillshot system that encourages creativity and experimentation—and makes it feel more immersive and intuitive than ever.” This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten another chance to play Bulletstorm again as the game’s remastered version, Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition was released on PC and consoles in 2017 with a Nintendo Switch version released two years after.
As for the VR version of the game, other than a 2023 release year no specific release date was given but we got a tease that more of the game will be revealed closer to Buletstorm VR’s launch.
