The Game Kitchen’s Blasphemous 2 is set to launch this August, a listing on the PlayStation Store confirms. The exact date is August 24, 2023, so you can close out summer smiting sinners.
You’ll return to play as The Pentinent One with the storyline continuing from the free Wounds of Eventide expansion added to Blasphemous. Set in a strange new land, your character is displaced from his resting place. With no choice but to move forward, The Pentinent One resumes and enters the cycle of life, death, and resurrection, having to explore an unknown world.
Included in the sequel are new weapons, new moves, new executions and expanded combos to leave a path of destruction in your wake. The Game Kitchen says there are new ways to play with the ability to customize your base skillset and several new unique weapons.
In our review, Luke said, “The Game Kitchen has passionately brought two of gaming’s most-loved genres together in Blasphemous that is worthy of much praise. The slick gameplay and painstakingly crafted art present what can only be considered a product of love in the highest form. While the story is creepy and subtle, there’s a world and a culture to the game that I’m sure many players will instantly fall for. Blasphemous is indelibly hard because there’s simply no way you’ll forget how hard its mechanics are testing you. As is often the case with games like it, this adventure will quickly decide whether you want to go on it.”
