Beats has had an up-and-down life in the two decades they’ve spent pumping out sound. Since 2006, the California-based audio empire, largely led by West Coast hip-hop innovator Dr. Dre, has stuck hard to maintaining a polished and decidedly high-class aesthetic that stood firm, while those it came up with, like Skullcandy and SOL Republic, aimed for flashy, and Sony and Bose aimed for an older, more financially established crowd.
Now, with 20 years behind its headbands, Beats is ready to give customers more freedom to choose colourways with the Beats 360.
Following in the footsteps of Apple, the company’s current owners, Beats 360 adopts an AirPods Max persuasion, but intends this new flagship to be an active, sporty headphone with personality, including a new body and peripheral colourway options.
The model will ship in four colourways, with matching interchangeable peripherals, plus two additional peripheral colourways.
The colourways are:
- Beats 360: Black, Cloud, Pink and Sky
- Performance Knit Cushion Kits: Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy and Volt
- UltraPlush Cushion Kits: Black and Cloud
A new ad for the product appears to maintain the company’s focus on being for younger crowds, as they’ve tapped Kendall Jenner as a product ambassador.
The goal also appears to be hitting a young, sporty crowd that doesn’t want to compromise on audio luxury, offering Beats’ most advanced noise cancellation yet, with up to 1.75X more total noise cancellation than fellow flagship Beats Studio Pro, Adaptive EQ, Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking and Dolby Atmos on the audio side of things.
Meanwhile, it’ll pair all that with up to 32 hours of battery life, plus “Fast Fuel” for up to one hour of playback from a five-minute charge, as well as IPX4 sweat and water resistance, a first for an over-ear Beats headphone, and seamless connectivity across both Apple and Android.
Beats 360 is available to order starting today for $479.95 CAD, with in-store availability beginning September 24. Cushion Kits are $74.95 CAD, with a limited-time incredible introductory price of $14.99 CAD in Canada.
