Back 4 Blood Delayed to October 12

WB Games and Turtle Rock Studios have announced that Back 4 Blood has been delayed by almost four-months from June 22nd to October 12th.

“Turtle Rock Studios is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best game it can possibly be at the launch and the team needs more time to do this,” the game Twitter account revealed.

“Therefore, we will release Back for Blood on October 12th, 2021. We thank our community for its continued support and are excited to share that there will be an open beta this summer.”

It’s not all doom and gloom with an open beta coming this summer, which is off the heels of the alpha the studio put out in December after its showcase at the Game Awards. Knowing that the game is a Left 4 Dead spiritual successor for the studio, I think it’s very on-brand of the game to come out in October, it’s another reason for things to get spooky.

“It’s hard to overstate what an awesome opportunity this is. We get to return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains,” said Chris Ashton, Co-founder and Design Director, Turtle Rock Studios.

“We also have some of the best teammates in the business at WBIE who understand our development process and are equally committed to our player-first mentality. We love being able to announce, so we can start working with the community right away.”
