Koei Tecmo with developer Gust has announced Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will launch on July 13, 2023.
The remake will only be available digitally in the West and comes in standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Digital Deluxe includes all of the content and DLC of the base game along with original “Atelier Marie Plus” content, an extra BGM pack, and the “Another Look” costume set. Gust also mentions that the classic title comes with all-new graphics and enhanced elements.
The titular Atelier Marie is a struggling student at the Royal Academy of Magic, one day her teacher gifts her an alchemy atelier for graduation. Marie’s goal is to create an item that will make her teacher happy but she’s still got a lot to learn about alchemy before she can attempt the item. With that, Marie has a lot to catch up on and will require help from adventurers to gather materials and earn money for tools and books.
Character and event stills are newly illustrated, with 2D animations for portraits and 3D models for stages and characters being added.
In addition, the remake retains the simple and flexible playability of the original game, with collecting and moving around the town being expanded to make the gameplay of the remake feel comfortable. Minigame controls and gameplay balance adjustments are shown in the presentation and battles.
There are also new modes coming like Ultimate Mode, where players can take their time without feeling stressed about the deadline to graduate in five years, making for a more relaxing Atelier game.
Atelier Marie Remake: Alchemist of Salburg is currently in development and will be available digitally on July 17, 2023, for the Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
