Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Has Sold 2 Million Copies

Ubisoft appear to have a chest of gold on their hands when it comes to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

In our review earlier this week, we loved that Ubisoft Singapore not only honoured the treasure of a game Ubisoft Montreal scrounged together 13 years ago, but also modernized it to feel like a game worth its weight in gold today.

It would appear that players agree, because 2 million copies of the game were sold on its first day on the market.

Sales aren’t a measure of excitement, but it looks like that most enjoyable of human emotions is also there, as the game ranked Number One on Twitch for July 9, and reached a peak of 99,451 concurrent players on Steam within 24 hours of launch. That last stat is enough to make it the highest concurrent player count ever recorded for an Assassin’s Creed title on the platform.

We also weren’t the only ones with a positive review score of 8/10. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is sailing along with an 85% review score on Open Critic and 84% on Metacritic — making it the best-reviewed game in the franchise since its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.

Players who take the time to submit reviews seem to agree, as the game is currently rated 4.76/5 on the PlayStation Store, 4.9/5 on the Xbox Store and “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam.

“Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours,” said Martin Schelling, head of Assassin’s Creed, in a press release. ”Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for.”
