Apple Introduces M4 Chip In New iPad Pro

Apple’s iPad Pro just became a lot more… Pro!

2024’s Edition of the premium iPad model was shown off this morning.

Apple’s Retina OLED display is moving into its extra-powerful stage of life with the new Retina XDR display.

Tandem OLED technology will always work to help you get the most out of adaptive brightness and incredibly precise contrast.

Advanced technologies ProMotion and True Tone grant 1000 nits full-screen brightness, 1600 nits peak HDR brightness, adaptive 10-120Hz refresh rate, and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio sure to wow with smooth and accurate visuals while watching Apple TV+ or editing photos and videos.

Apple’s new M4 chip wants you to call it the “Rocket Chip” because it will help the iPad Pro’s performance take off!

An entirely new engine harnesses a 10-core GPU with four performance cores and now six efficiency cores. Improved branch prediction enables wider decode and execution engines for the performance cores and a deeper execution engine for the efficiency cores.

When maximized with Dynamic Caching, an Apple innovation, the M4 chipset and local memory are used in real-time to dramatically increase the average utilization of the GPU, significantly increasing performance for the most demanding iPad Pro apps and Apple Arcade games.

Speaking of Apple Arcade games, the M4 chipset brings Hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the iPad for the first time, bringing even more realistic shadows and reflections in games and other graphically rich experiences. Hardware-accelerated mesh shading built into the new iPad Pro’s GPU delivers more excellent capability and efficiency in geometry processing, enabling more visually complex scenes in games and graphics-intensive apps.

This is bundled into a sleek 5.1-millimetre body boasting an 11-inch or expansive 13-inch screen!

The Magic Keyboard has been redesigned to feature an aluminum palm rest and a function key row. The Apple Pencil Pro now supports squeeze gestures and location tracking using Find My. It also has a gyroscope, allowing for brush rolling while drawing, and haptic feedback similar to Microsoft’s Surface Pen.
