Kotaku reported last week that Anthem was not only far behind schedule but wouldn’t see release until sometime in early 2019. Turns out, those reports were true and today, Ea confirmed the delay to the Wall Street Journal, don’t call it a delay though.

Speaking to Sarah Needleman of the WSJ, EA’s Blake Jorgensen was adamant to confirm that this is not a delay, even though the publisher confirmed a fall 2018 release at E3 last year.
Taking Anthem’s place in the fall is a new Battlefield title, and only Battlefield as EA deems releasing both games at such close proximity may hurt sales for them, deeming Anthem being too new a series to be tossed in during what is the busiest sales period for publishers.
