We haven’t heard anything from the Alone in the Dark reboot since Gamescom 2022 but Publisher, THQ Nordic and developer, Pieces Interactive have come out of hiding to announce its horror reboot experience will launch this spooky season on October 25th.
I don’t know about you but October seems so far away so both companies are giving players a little taste of the game in the form of a demo which is available right now and serves as the prologue to Alone in the Dark‘s modern take narrative. The standalone prologue takes place a couple of weeks before the main game and is called “Grace in the Dark”.
Players will be inserted into the shoes of an 11-year-old girl, Grace Sauders who attempts to send a letter to one of the game’s protagonists. The prologue won’t feature any combat but is more of a mood setter as players explore the private mental hospital in Derceto which will put the events in motion to where the main game opens for the game’s heroes.
Speaking of which we got a really good look at them in the game’s recent spotlight as we are introduced to is dual protagonists, Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. The Dup have some star power behind them as they are set to be played by Hollywood actors, Edward will be played by Favid Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) while Emily will be played by Jodie Comer (Killer Eve, Free Guy).
Players who boot up the game this October will have the option of experiencing Alone in the Dark‘s story from either protagonist’s perspective which THQ Nordic promises the storytelling will be unique to each character within the frame of the same narrative; sounding like it won’t be a copy and paste approach.
“Explore Derceto Manor in this reimagination of Alone in the Dark, a love letter to the 90’s cult classic horror game. Set in the gothic American south in the 1920s, Alone in the Dark features a noir setting with classical Lovecraftian horror elements, where the familiar meets the surreal.” the game’s description said in an announcement.
Alone in the Dark is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles on October 25th with digital preorders already live.
