Alone in the Dark Is Getting Out Of A Very Busy October, Delayed To January 2024

Usually, October is the best month for spooky releases. Still, now it seems we are getting one less game that month with Alone in the Dark‘s publisher, THQ Nordic and developer, Pieces Interactive, announcing it’s delaying the upcoming game from its previously planned October 25 date to January 16, 2024.

When it comes to delays, we usually get a statement from these companies with the reason to move the targetted release is to give a studio more time to help improve the quality of the game. Not to say Pieces Interactive won’t, but the first reason for this delay is literally to get out of the way of the many biggest releases coming out this October.

“Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honour this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October,” THQ Nordic explained in a press release.

This rebooted version of Alone in the Dark will let players experience a haunting 1920s story from the perspective of either of the game’s two protagonists, Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. Whoever you choose together, you’ll go through the Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally ill. It won’t be a friendly stroll as players explore environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles, uncover the uneasy truth of Derceto Manor, and ultimately uncover the plot of rising evil.

Alone in the Dark is set to release very early next year on January 16th on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
