Just in time for Back to School 2026 — and the continuation of summer gaming, just maybe a little less of it — 2026’s edition of the workhorse ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 is coming August 11, 2026.
True to ROG form, this year’s model is an upgrade full of top-of-the-line enhancements, promising one of ASUS’ most powerful laptop packages with enhanced visual performance.

Power is key here, as the 2026 ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 is 320 watts of total system power. Thanks to the overall boost in performance, the system can now support up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor. With eight “Performance” and 16 “Efficient” cores running at 200 watts sustained. You’ll never be wanting for performance in games from this generation, and likely not in the next.
In terms of graphical performance, the 2026 ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 comes with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU that features a max TGP of 175 watts. That means you’ll be able to use efficiency optimizers from NVIDIA Max-Q, such as “Dynamic Boost” and “Advanced Optimus,” as well as AI-accelerated features like “DLSS 4.5” with Multi Frame Generation.
It’ll all look great on the world’s first 4K 240 hertz Mini LED laptop panel with ROG Nebula technology.

With over 2,000 dimming zones; 1,600 nits of peak brightness* and beautiful colors thanks to 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, The 2026 ASUS ROG SCAR 18 display also features AGLR technology (anti-glare and low reflection), which reduces reflections and enhances contrast by 4.5x for incredibly vivid colors. It’s also the first ROG laptop to support ROG Nebula ELMB, delivering up to 16 times motion clarity without sacrificing screen brightness or variable refresh rate.
Looking past the hefty price, it is safe to say this is a portable PC that will outclass even most home desktop PCs.
