007 First Light

007 First Light Is Not Woke As It Sells Over 4 Million Copies

IO Interactive’s 007 First Light has sold 4 million copies since its launch in late May 2026.

Serving as an entry point into James Bond’s earliest days as a Navy member before being recruited by MI6, 007 First Light introduces a young Bond as part of a revitalized 00 program. The game launched to critical acclaim and success, with particular nods to Patrick Gibson’s work as the titular character.

And nearly 4 million people seem to agree, as the title proves that woke wins. Despite some of the dumbest people on the planet screaming that 007 First Light is woke because Bond was “bossed around by a woman,” it appears that this individual is oblivious to the fact that this isn’t true.

In my review, I said “IO Interactive’s 007 First Light is easily the best Bond game we’ve seen. Rare’s GoldenEye 007 was momentous when it launched, and it’s stuck around in the zeitgeist because it was a portal into Ian Fleming’s world of shaken martinis and spy thrills we’d never seen before. 007 First Light feels like a playable, limited spy series that transports the player into a gripping, memorable espionage story.”
