Four months after 007 First Light’s launch, Amazon MGM and the game’s developer, IO Interactive, announced that their take on the James Bond IP is getting free DLC, Extended Operations, launching today, according to a press release. The new content adds New Game+, a new 00 difficulty mode, Photo Mode, improved weapon-handling animation fidelity, new TacSim content with the Valhalla Protocol missions featuring the Aston Martin Valhalla, and new TacSim missions set in Vietnam.
Starting with New Game+, the option becomes available after beating 007 First Light’s main campaign, and players can restart the story mode while unlocking outfits and gadgets in the early game. New Game+ has a bevy of difficulty options, but also part of the Extended Operations DLC release also adds the game’s new 00 difficulty mode that looks to test players’ mettle, enhancing combat that is less forgiving, stealth, and social encounters at the 00 agent level with enemies that have fast reaction time, restricted gadgets within a guard’s line of sight, and more.
One of the game’s most requested features is adding a Photo Mode to 007 First Light, which, when activated, freezes everything in the game, letting the player freely control it to get their preferred angle for the shot they want. Like with other games, players will have tons of tools in their arsenal to get the perfect photo, with control over the game’s UI visibility, character posing, lens adjustments, brightness, post-processing filters, and more. Extended Operations also adds new TacSim content that kicks off with the Valhalla Protocol content is now playable starting today.
“Teased in the game at launch, the Valhalla Protocol content is now playable, bringing the state-of-the-art Aston Martin Valhalla to the beautiful Slovakian Mountains. The Valhalla Protocol content takes the form of four missions, letting players drive the Valhalla day and night with different challenges. Of course, the Valhalla is fully kitted out with the weaponry that James Bond uses during the main campaign, which players will need to use to take down targets, earn time bonuses, and post the best result possible,” IO Interactive writes.
One new TacSim mission being added to the game will see James Bond make his return to Vietnam’s luxury resort, The Pearl; here, he is tasked with infiltrating a guarded villa as our titular 00 agent retrieves classified documents, with access to additional weapons and the full arsenal from 007 First Light’s single-player campaign. Additionally. Players will be able to have access to the full area, even the rooftop but the interior has been adjusted to “offer richer opportunities for stealth.” Last but not least is that 007 First Light Extended Operations enhances gameplay, including improved weapon handling animation fidelity and now James Bond himself can now be thrown off a ledge.
007 First Light is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version launching in March 2027.
